Question
Does Silent Authentication work for users with Apple’s Private Relay enabled?
Applies To
- Verify
- Silent Auth
Answer
Silent Authentication relies on identifying the user's mobile network via their SIM to validate identity without user input. Apple’s Private Relay, an iCloud feature that is disabled by default, intentionally masks the user’s IP and network details to preserve privacy. As a result, it prevents Silent Authentication from functioning as designed.
