Question
If the end user disables mobile data in their device's OS settings, will Silent Authentication still function?
Applies To
- Verify
- Silent Auth
Answer
No, it is not technically feasible to programmatically re-enable mobile data if the user has manually disabled it or turned off their device. This behavior is intentional and consistent across both iOS and Android platforms, designed to give users control over data usage and prevent unintended charges. Vonage SDKs can initiate a data connection only when mobile data settings are enabled and active. They cannot override Wi-Fi or force connectivity in scenarios where mobile data is turned off.
