Question
Why are messages sent to users on WhatsApp still in “submitted” status?
Applies To
- WhatsApp outbound Messages
- Messages API
- Delivery Receipts (DLRs) statuses for WhatsApp
Answer
Messages are showing "Submitted" status, likely because the user has turned off their phone and is unavailable.
The default expiry time for a WhatsApp Message on the Vonage API platform is 30 days. Messages will be delivered to the recipient if they are available within this timeframe; otherwise, the status will remain "Submitted".
