Question
How is RBM different from RCS ?
Applies To
- Rich Communication Services
- Messaging
Answer
RCS (Rich Communication Services) represents an advanced evolution of traditional SMS. It allows businesses to create engaging, branded mobile interactions with their customers, featuring multimedia elements such as videos, images, suggested replies, GIF’s and carousels.
Unlike SMS, which typically supports one-way communication from the sender to the recipient, RCS enables a dynamic two-way dialogue between businesses (or automated systems) and users. This enhanced interactivity distinguishes RCS from traditional A2P SMS.
When businesses use RCS to communicate with end-users, this is referred to as RBM (Rich Business Messaging).
Vonage is actively collaborating with Google and carriers globally to support and streamline RBM launches. If you have questions or are ready to embark on your RBM journey, please reach out to us.
