Overview
New Spanish regulations have been announced as of the 7th of May 2025, as a consumer protection measure to combat identity theft scams through fraudulent calls.
Blocking of calls with no CLI or malformed CLI or CLI not allocated to an operator or assigned to an end-user.
Unassigned, unallocated, missing, and misconfigured numbers are to be blocked. On the 7th June 2025, blocking of international calls over national /domestic trunks identified by a CLI from the Spanish numbering plan (except when internationally roaming).
The prohibition of mobile numbers for customer service and unsolicited commercial calls comes into effect on the 7th June 2025.
800 and 900 numbers can be used for these calls as return calls are free to the caller.
