US dedicated short codes are provisioned solely for one customer. You will have dedicated access to that short code. Dedicated short codes allow 2-way SMS. You can send and receive SMS with a dedicated short code. Vonage manages the lengthy application process to purchase a US short code for you. Customers can also transfer their current short code to Vonage.

All major US carriers have requirements for 10 Digit Long Code (10 DLC), the new standard for application-to-person (A2P) SMS messaging using 10 digit geographic numbers in the US. This standard provides for many benefits, including supporting higher messaging speeds and better deliverability on long code originators.

A2P 10 DLC standards restrict using a single number with more than one brand. This also applies to Dedicated Short Code programs.
