Country Summary
Caller ID Guidelines
| Overview |
International reach:
- Calls from International numbers are supported.
Domestic reach:
- Domestic Vonage numbers must only be used to place calls via Vonage Voice API.
- Domestic calls from non-Vonage numbers are best effort.
- The self-service buying of numbers is not available for Argentina at this time on Vonage's Customer Dashboard. Customers can still request a new number from Customer Dashboard by filling in and submitting the required information or by contacting their Account Manager to start the order. After the request is reviewed and there is no issue, the new number will be reserved for customer.
- Outbound calls from Toll Free numbers are not supported.
Dialing formatting:
- When placing calls to any recipient using the Vonage API platform, you will need to ensure the phone number is formatted correctly.
- For mobile recipients, you must add a 9 to the number after the country code, e.g., 5491123452345. Without this, calls to mobile numbers will fail with a SIP response of 404, 484, or 500, depending on the network. This is different from SMS, where you should not include the 9.
- The 9 must not be inserted for calls to landline recipients, or the call will fail with a SIP response 404, 484, or 500, e.g., 542234563456.
