Argentina SMS Features and Restrictions
Overview
We use Adaptive Routing to send SMS in Argentina. Our main provider is a local direct route. Delivery receipts are not reliable and Sender IDs will be changed.
Sender ID
Sender IDs will be changed. Currently the Sender ID is replaced with a short codes, but this is dynamic and subject to change depending on performance quality.
Number Formatting
When sending messages to Argentina you should omit the 9 between the country code and the local number. This 9 is only needed for international voice calls to Argentinian mobile numbers.
Content
There are no additional content restrictions beyond those in our Acceptable Use Policy.
Other Features and Restrictions
Delivery Receipts
Delivery receipts are not reliable.
Virtual Numbers
SMS virtual numbers are currently upon request. SMS-enabled numbers in Argentina may only be used for P2P use cases. The following restrictions apply:
- No more than 500 messages per day per LVN
- No more than 40 messages every 10 minutes per LVN
- No more than 5 messages per minute from the same LVN
Carriers will block if the threshold exceeds the above.
Policies
There is a policy in Argentina that users cannot send promotional SMS if the user is registered to this site https://nollame.aaip.gob.ar. However, the enforcement of this is not strict and operators can block if the caller or sender is a registered party (like telemarketing companies or aggregators with direct connections), but grey routes can still deliver to numbers in the DNC list.
