Answer

As a general rule, in SMS the maximum length allowed for message originator (Sender ID &from=) is:

  • 11 characters maximum length for alphanumeric originators.
  • 15 digits maximum length for numeric originators.

Minimum length:

  • at least 3 characters for alpha/alphanumeric 
  • equal to a country's max length in E.164 format.
