Video API China Relay Service Interruption Status

Update - Monday Oct 28th, 2024: China Relay Temporary Service Suspension

As of Monday, October 28th, 2024, the China Relay Service has been temporarily suspended until further notice. Taking this step helps avoid total loss of connectivity for participants connecting to the Vonage Video API platform from within China, while we work to restore the service.

Friday, Oct 25th, 2024: China Relay Service Degradation

On October 28th, 2024, service degradation may occur for customers who use the China Relay to connect to video participants within China.

Symptom

When using the Video API, participants who connect from within China may expect increased connection times, jitter, and latency, resulting in a sub-par video experience.

Applies To

Video API customers that use the China Relay to connect to video participants within China. There is no impact on any other Vonage services.

Resolution

We are in the process of updating the web licenses required to operate within China. This can be an uncertain and sometimes lengthy process, and may impact the accessibility of our China Relay services for a period of time. We are working to resolve the issue and minimize any potential impact. 

In the meantime, any charges associated with this service will be suspended, until further notice.
