Question
When using Vonage Video API, is there an impact if a session is extended to longer hours?
Applies To
- Vonage Video API
- Video Session
- Inspector
Answer
When a session extends beyond 8 hours, we advise customers to transfer connected users to a new session before any possible timeout or reconnection occurrences. This approach ensures the best user experience.
The reason is that our platform rotates the services at certain intervals as part of regular cloud life cycles. Any session lasting more than 8 hours may experience disconnection as they reside in a service that is scaling out.
You may use session monitoring to receive notifications when sessions end or time out.
