Question
What are the client requirements for using Video Transformers and Video Filters?
Applies To
- Video API
- Video Filters
Answer
Video Transformers and video filters require adequate processor support. Even on supported browsers or devices, transformers may not be stable when background processes limit available processing resources.
Some operating systems may offer multiple battery settings or modes to conserve energy by throttling CPU performance. This may result in suboptimal transformer performance and introduce unwanted audio or video artifacts. We recommend setting your operating system to use best performance mode (or to not use low-power mode) in such cases.
Many video transformations (such as background blur) use segmentation to separate the speaker from the background. For best results, use proper lighting and a plain background. Insufficient lighting or complex backgrounds may cause video artifacts.
Web SDK:
Use Chrome (desktop or Android) for optimal results.
For the best user experience, ensure laptop/desktop computers meet these minimum requirements:
- CPU — Intel Core i5 (with 4 cores or higher) or Apple Silicon M1 (or higher)
- 8G RAM (or more)
- Dedicated GPU (for example, NVIDIA)
iOS SDK:
The transformers from the Vonage Media Library are supported on Apple A11 Bionic chipset and above, on the following device-operating system combinations:
Device | Supported operating system |
iPhone 11 and above | iOS 13 and above |
iPad Air 4 and above | iPadOS 14.1 and above |
iPad mini 5th generation and above | iPadOS 14 and above |
iPad Pro 5th generation or higher | iPadOS 14.5 or above |
iPhone SE 2nd generation and above | iOS 13.4 or above |
Android SDK:
The transformers from the Vonage Media Library are supported on Android API Level of 23 or above, on the following devices:
Samsung Galaxy S8 and above
Google Pixel 5 and above
OPPO A94 and above
Android phones using Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and above
Android Phones using Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G and above
Windows SDK:
NVIDIA GPUs are recommended for optimal performance when using Vonage Media Library transformers.
macOS SDK:
Currently, Vonage Media Library transformers are only supported on Apple silicon Macs.
