Question
What are the technical requirements for the Messages API?
Applies To
Messages API
Requirements
Answer
All of our messaging channels including WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Viber, MMS, etc. are available using our Messages API. As a technical prerequisite, your platform needs to be able to send API requests and receive API responses. Your platform also needs an active Webhook in order to receive callbacks from us.
You can test social chat app integration via our Messages API with our Sandbox. The Messages API Sandbox gives you a quick and easy way to send test messages using the Vonage Messages API without having to complete the verification process for certain business accounts. This means you can start coding your application right away, even while you wait for your business accounts to be created and approved. Your sandbox account can only be associated with one API key and currently supports the following channels:
- Viber
- Facebook Messenger
Additional Information
For more information on how to start testing with our Messages API Sandbox, see our developer documentation.
