Sender ID Guidelines

Alphanumeric Sender ID

Alpha sender ID is supported and requires pre-registration*. If an SMS is sent with a non-registered sender ID, the SMS will be delivered with a random local virtual number or shortcode.

*You can define an intermational or domestic Alpha Sender IDs for traffic sent towards Telcel, Movistar, AT&T and Altan Redes.

Numeric Sender ID

Numeric sender IDs are not supported unless offered by Vonage's Numbers.

A local virtual number (LVN) service works for inbound/MO traffic. A dedicated LVN is assigned to an account to receive inbound traffic, and this service is available for all carriers in Mexico. For outbound/MT traffic, messages will be delivered with a pool of LVNs randomly rotating to ensure delivery. Customers must indicate the LVN in the MT message that the end user must reply to make 2-way flow feasible.

Any other numeric sender IDs will be overwritten to ensure delivery.

Generic Sender ID Generic sender IDs such as INFO, SMS, NOTICE etc are prohibited.

*To initiate the Sender ID registration process, please check Global Sender ID Portal or contact your account manager or support

Use-Case & Content Guidelines

Marketing Traffic Before sending any marketing traffic, opt-in consent is required from handset users.

Marketing messages are allowed with the exceptions of adult, alcohol-related, and political content. The carrier will raise a spam complaint if they see a burst of messages with the same content, even for legitimate use case such as a notification. To avoid this it is recommended that you personalize the SMS where possible and avoid sending in batches.

Additional Information

P2P traffic is prohibited.

No political, religious, gambling, unsolicited promotion content.

There are no additional content restrictions beyond those in our Acceptable Use Policy.
