Question
How does the Reports API pricing work?
Applies To
- Reports API
Answer
Effective May 1, 2026, the default pricing model for the Reports API is transitioning from a flat Pay As You Go (PAYG) structure to a Pay As You Go (PAYG) with incremental tiered pricing model.
This means you only pay for what you use, and as your volume increases, you are getting greater discounts automatically.
What does Pay As You Go (PAYG) mean?
We charge based on the number of records (CDRs) returned in your reports within a single calendar/billing month. A record is a single Call Detail Record (CDR) or data entry returned by a Reports API request. If a single report request returns 500 lines of data, that counts as 500 records.
What does incremental tiered pricing mean?
You automatically save more per record as your volume grows. With incremental tiered pricing, higher-volume records are charged at progressively lower prices, giving you predictable, proportional savings. In other words, the more you use, the lower your average cost per record becomes.
Example scenario
Important! The prices and thresholds presented below are for explanation purposes only. As of May 1, 2026 please see our official pricing page for current pricing and specific tier details.
Imagine our tiers and prices are structured like this:
| Tier | Volume Range | Price Per record |
| 1 | 0 to 2,000 records | $0.01 |
| 2 | 2,001 to 10,000 records | $0.005 |
| 3 | 10,001+ records | $0.002 |
Simplified Calculation Example
If you generate 5,000 records in a month, your total cost is calculated as follows:
- First 2,000 records (Tier 1): 2,000 × $0.01 = $20.00
- Next 3,000 records (Tier 2): 3,000 × $0.005 = $15.00
- Total: $20.00 + $15.00 = $30.00
Note: Usage resets at the beginning of every month. Your first record of the month will always start at the Tier 1 price.
Important Notes
- The number of CDRs retrieved by Reports API cannot be estimated upfront however you can use the Customer Dashboard - Analytics to get an idea about the number of records which will be returned.
-
You can also monitor your usage with the “REPORTS-USAGE” product within the Reports API (see details in this article).
