Objective
Guide to enable the Multi-factor Authentication on Jumper.ai
Applies To
- Jumper
- Jumper login
- MFA
- Security
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enhances security by demanding two or more authentication methods. Both email and Google Authenticator serve as an additional security layer, increasing the complexity for unauthorized users attempting to gain access to your account.
Email-based MFA is convenient for users who prefer a verification code sent to their email address. On the other hand, Google Authenticator generates time-based one-time passwords (TOTPs) on your mobile device, allowing for offline authentication and added convenience.
Using Email OTP or Google Authenticator as an MFA method reduces the reliance on a single factor (e.g., just a password), making it more resilient against various types of attacks.
Please Note: Upon activation of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), subsequent deactivation is not possible and applies uniformly across all your accounts login.
Procedure
- To enable the MFA, go to the User icon option at the top of the menu & select the MFA option.
User can autonomously enable MFA for their account by accessing their profile options.
Admin, Agents or any other team members can only enable & manage MFA for their own account login.
Note: In case a user is managing multiple Jumper accounts, enabling MFA for one account will automatically enable MFA across all accounts associated with the same email address.
- Under MFA, you will find 2 methods:
A. Email OTP: By enabling this method, you will be required to input the OTP sent to your login email ID before logging in to your account.
B. Google Authenticator: By enabling this method, you will be required to use the Google Authenticator App & enter the code to log in to your account.
You can switch between these 2 methods whenever required.
If you manage multiple accounts, enabling any of the options will impact your login for all your associated accounts, and you will need to adhere to the enabled login procedure for all of them.
Note: Upon activation, you won’t be able to deactivate the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your login email linked to the associated accounts.
- To get started with enabling MFA for your login, click on the Enable option for your required method.
-
Once MFA is enabled, the user will receive an email regarding the activation of MFA and guidelines on setting up MFA for their account login.
In case you have enabled Email OTP for the account, you will receive an OTP each time you try to log into your Jumper.ai account post entering your password.
In case you have enabled Google Authenticator for the account, the initial setup of the Google Authenticator App is required. Each time you log in to your account, you should access the Google Authenticator app to obtain the Google Authenticator code. Enter this code, along with your usual username and password, to finalise the login process.
Follow the below steps to Setup the Google Authenticator:
Step 1: Download the Google Authenticator App from the Apple App Store Or Google Play Store.
Step 2: In the App, select the “Add a code” or “+” icon option.
Step 3: Select the Scan a QR code option & scan the QR code shown at the time of your login.
Important Note: Keep a screenshot of the QR code for future use in case you need to set up the authenticator app on a new device or reinstall the Google Authenticator App. The QR code is only visible once during your initial login. Ensure that you keep the QR code secure and do not share it with others, as it contains sensitive data.
Step 4: Enter the Google Authenticator code shown in the Authenticator App & click on verify to log in to your account.
The above setup is required only once; for subsequent logins, you will only need to enter the Google Authenticator code for verification.
You can switch between the 2 MFA methods, i.e. Email OTP & Google Authenticator.
