Question
Are RCS Messages secure?
Applies To
- Rich Communication Services
- Messaging
Answer
RCS messages offer enhanced security compared to traditional SMS.
For peer-to-peer, messaging conversations are protected by end-to-end encryption, ensuring that only the users in the conversation can read the messages.
For messages between users and businesses, which Vonage offers, encryption is used between the business messaging platform and Google servers. While Google scans messages for malicious content, the content itself remains encrypted. Additionally, Google deploys on-device security models to protect message data and thus messages are protected by the encryption settings on your device.
